The offenders keep pace with the latest technology and with trends in the global market. The objectives are profit at any price and maximum cost-effectiveness, with total disregard for humanitarian considerations. The creative community is robbed of reward for effort and innovation. The incentive to invest is reduced. Consumers are increasingly being harmed by unsafe counterfeit products ultimately leading to a loss of consumer confidence.
